Positive Behaviour
Promotion of Positive Behaviour
Information for ParentsIn Academy we try to ensure the promotion of positive behaviour in the following ways:
Establishing a happy climate for children to learn and staff to teach. Our positive ethos is one in which the children's confidence and self esteem are promoted, they are encouraged to value each other and they demonstrate a strong sense of belonging to the school;
Stimulating lessons are well prepared, expectations of pupils are high, work is differentiated to meet pupil needs and is positively evaluated;
Effective programmes such as the "CAPS Programme" and "Academy Aces" promote both self and mutual respect and responsibility;
Staff and non-teaching staff demonstrate a collective sense of responsibility;
Effective links with parents are established. The support of parents is vital to the success of our behavioural policy;
Our Learning Support Team, in conjunction with class teachers, aims to identify learning difficulties as early as possible;
Effective links with outside external agencies are established.
In Academy the children are rewarded for a positive contribution to school life in the following ways:
Reward charts for good behaviour and good work operate in our classrooms;
The school marking policy encourages recognition for good content and presentation in written work both in class and at home;
Visits to the Principal for good effort and for improvement in work or behaviour;
Collective celebration of success at assemblies;
Two classes (one from each Key Stage) are rewarded in a variety of ways for their attainment during a fortnightly focus;
The Academy Aces notice board is in our main foyer. Children's photographs and attainments are updated every fortnight.
These are meant as a representative sample and not an exhaustive list.
Remember:
*To remind your child of the School Rules (page 22 of the school prospectus).
*We measure the success of our discipline by the criteria published (page 21 of the school prospectus).
*Our aims can be achieved with your support and co-operation. Staff act in loco parentis and as they are 'on site' they are in the best position to deal with any incidents that occur.
*Reasonable sanctions will be applied as fairly and as consistently as possible when good behaviour is not demonstrated. Back to top
