Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care
"The welfare of the children must be the paramount consideration."Children ( N.I. ) Order 1995
It is our aim in Academy Primary that all children learn in a happy and safe environment.
The curriculum reflects the school's positive ethos and policies relating to each aspect of child welfare.
Children from an early age soon realise that their class teachers are people that they can tell and trust when any matter is worrying them.
They are taught that if they want to talk to a teacher other than their own that certain designated teachers are available to listen and where necessary help.
Pastoral Care Team
These teachers comprise the school pastoral care team: Mr Moore (Principal), Mr Stevenson (Vice Principal), Mrs Adamson (Head of Key Stage 1) and Mrs Woods (Head of Key Stage 2).
Designated Teachers
In matters relating to child protection Mrs Adamson is the Designated Teacher and Mrs Woods is the Deputy Designated Teacher.
Employees or parents who have any concerns relating to child protection should speak to either of these two teachers as the first point of contact.
Any concerns or disclosures will be acted upon and will initiate a four point action plan being put into operation which may involve outside agencies being involved.
The prime concern will always be the interests of the child.
The school will endeavour to:
· take any matter seriously;
· keep a record of any incident;
· ensure sensitivity;
· ensure that knowledge of any matter is limited to a need to know basis;
· protect your child.
Our School Welfare Policies available to read in school on request include:
Anti Bullying, Attendance, Child Protection, Discipline, Drugs, Fire Drill, Health and Safety, Medical, Pastoral Care, Road Safety, Special Needs, Major Incidents and Promotion of Positive Behaviour.
Remember: If you have any worries or concerns about your child please feel free to contact his/her class teacher or Mr Moore. Tel: 028 97 510407 Back to top
